ABOUT ME

Hello!   I am happily looking forward to a new school year at Joslin Elementary.  I have high expectations for myself and my students.  I look forward to working with this new group of 3rd graders.

This is my 9th year teaching in Texas, but I've been in the education sector for 11 years now.  Two of those years were spent in Vanuatu during my Peace Corps service as a Primary Literacy Teacher Trainer.  Those two years of my life were the most rewarding and challenging I have ever experienced.  I have a plethora of stories about my Peace Corps experience, and I can't wait to share them with my students.

Aside from teaching my other passions are running, reading, and music.  I started running when I was in the Peace Corps and now I'm completely enamored.  I got bit hard by the running bug right after I finished my first half marathon in November 2011 and have ran several more races since.  Last school year I had the honor of running a few races with some of the students.  I can't wait to get out on the track with this new batch of athletes!

I have always enjoyed reading and I hope to inspire my students to feel the same fervor for reading as I do. Just because I'm in charge of teaching math and science doesn't mean I won't be finding time to read some amazing books to my students.

Music is an art I have deep respect for and enjoy more than any other art medium.  I played the french horn in high school and always try to share my music admiration with my students.  So, don't be surprised if you hear some of the kiddos singing songs about area and perimeter!
